Local Law 87 (LL87) Extension Information
In order to achieve compliance with Local Law 87 (LL87), owners of covered buildings as designated by the Covered Buildings List need to submit their Energy Efficiency Reports (EERC) to the City by December 31st of the year in which they are due, once every ten years. An owner may also apply for an extension to file an EERC if the deadline cannot be met. An Extension for Local Law 87 is available for those that could not meet the deadline due to either of the following reasons.
- Despite documented good faith efforts
- For financial hardship of the building
The extension form needs to be filed and emailed to LL87@buildings.nyc.gov by October 1st of the year in which the report is due. LL87 Extension forms can be found online and must be returned via email, in addition to a $155 Extension Fee being mailed to the DOB. If you do apply for an extension, you may be asked to provide additional documentation that shows the work performed on the building so far (Field notes from the Engineer, Retrocommissioning measures, etc).
